The Gaudí Research Institute deeply mourns the passing of two friends during the month of August: the priest Lluís Bonet Armengol and the landscape architect Fernando Caruncho.
Father Bonet was the son of a Gaudí disciple—the architect Lluís Bonet Garí—and served for 25 years as rector of the Sagrada Família, a role his father had previously held. He was distinguished for fully reviving the spirit of social outreach that had characterized the temple during Gaudí’s time and for his fundamental work in the architect’s beatification process.
Fernando Caruncho was one of the most internationally renowned landscape architects. In 2014, he participated in the 1st Gaudí World Congress organized by The Gaudí Research Institute at the University of Barcelona; in his presentation, he highlighted the architect’s genius regarding parks and gardens.
